There is nothing I love more than being able to photograph a family multiple times a year. It is so awesome to be able to get to know my clients and watch as their children grow. I first began photographing The Vaughn Family when Leila was 9 months old and have been lucky enough to many sessions with them since. It always takes Lelia a few minutes to warm up to me, and then it's like I am her long lost best friend. It's been so much fun to see her grow out of the infant stage and become a toddler with a personality- and boy does this girl have personality! So when Kelli told me that she was expecting a new baby- a boy this time!- I could not have been more excited. Check out some of her maternity photos here!
When I arrived for Trey's newborn session, he had just eaten and was ready to sleep. Or so we thought ;) Trey had different ideas and wanted to stay awake and hang out with his new photographer friend! I'm thinking Leila must have told him all about me and he was excited to meet me :) Luckily, after he did fall asleep he stayed asleep and did an AMAZING job for his photos. Unlike some newborns, he really liked being on his belly which made it so easy to pose him. And I even got the perfect shot of him in the wool bucket that I have been trying to use for my last few sessions with no success. But Trey rocked it! I think they are my favorite newborn photos to date!
While I do love sleepy newborn shots, I always try to get at least a couple with the baby's eyes open. I'm totally in love with this shot and this adorable outfit by Petal's and Plaid Children's Boutique!
